With university applications down and youth unemployment rising, Kent County Council is urging businesses and organisations to consider offering apprenticeships.  KCC Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, Kevin Lynes, is recommending the earning and learning scheme as the county council recruits its 500th apprentice.

Kent’s fleet of more than 60 salting lorries is on standby to keep the county moving during the expected big freeze this weekend.  If heavy snow hits the county, the lorries will be fitted with snow ploughs and extra drivers drafted in, so they can be driven around the clock to make sure key routes are kept clear.

Just in time for Christmas, the inaugural draw for the Folkestone & Hythe Conservative Association's 200 Club took place recently in front of members of the Patrons' Club.  Miss Fleur Record, Chairman of the Patrons' Club, drew the winning ticket in front of a hushed crowd of about 60 people.

Youths from local youth club, Decuria, cooked and served up a lovely Christmas Dinner for parents and guests including: Cllrs Jan Holben (Decuria Trustee) and Cllrs Richard Grundy and George Bunting who represented  Folkestone Town Council.

Local Conservatives gathered in Sellindge on 10 December for 'Music for Christmas Night' at the home of District Councillor Jenny Hollingsbee. The music included hand bells, local duo 'Twice as Nice' and classical music with a Christmas theme.
