New Councillor Presents Traffic Calming Petition

On 10th February, after some weeks’ working with local resident Mark Tague immediately following election in December, Hythe Town Councillor Rosemary Griffiths presented a petition to Hythe Town Council for traffic calming measures along West Hythe Road and Lympne Hill.  The petition was signed by 99% of residents and users of West Hythe Road, St Mary’s Road and Lympne Hill, and the issue will be discussed at the Hythe Town Council Plans & Works Committee on 16th February 2010.

Rosemary and the residents had earlier requested that KCC Highways Transportation Engineers place a rubber strip within the 30 mph speed limit area to monitor speed and volume of traffic, and this was removed last week.  The results will be known within two to three weeks, and Rosemary will be meeting KCC Highways on site shortly to discuss the matter further..
