Local fishermen and residents have frequently complained about finding human excrement on the Lydd-on-Sea beach, especially out of season. Local shopkeepers had also said that they were tired of visitors to the area asking to use their private facilities.

Cllr Vicki Dawson feels most strongly that the issue of the Hale toilet 'winter closing' must be addressed urgently - and is therefore supporting the petition to keep the Hale toilets open all year round - more than 500 local people have already signed this petition. 

Cllr Dawson is working with Cllr Rory Love (Cabinet member for Strategic Services) who is carrying out costings to keep the toilets open year round. Cllr Dawson said:

"It is imperative that a solution to this problem is sorted out quickly but we must also bear in mind that there are those who would like to ensure the car park remains free and we do not want to jeopardise their efforts as a result of available budget being spent on keeping the toilets open."

"As District Councillors we also serve on the local Police Forum which is chaired by PC Jordan and we work closely with them on local issues."

Cllr Dawson was pleased to note that anti social behaviour has fallen significantly in Lydd due to the sterling efforts of PC Lee Jordan, the Community Warden and all Youth Group Leaders. Cllr Dawson said:

"As former Mayor and serving District and Town Councillor, I am most gratified to see what is being achieved by the Police, Councillors, Youth Group Leaders and community working together - we owe them a debt of thanks"
